2 July, 2022Medal of Merit Luis Carlos Galan Sarmiento to Awarded to Sr. María Luisa Piraquive
On June 26, 2022, the Colombian Ministry of Interior awarded to Sister María Luisa Piraquive the “Medal of Merit Luis Carlos Galan Sarmiento” for her spiritual work and social service to Colombia for over 50 years.
“You are the first religious leader in Colombia to receive this merit,” said the minister of Interior, Daniel Palacios, who bestowed this recognition with presidential duties to Sister Maria Luisa.
During her acceptance speech, Sister María Luisa Piraquive, worldwide leader of the Church, stated that this award is an incentive to continue working for religious freedom, serving society, and promoting moral values through the Church of God Ministry of Jesus Christ International, and the María Luisa de Moreno International Foundation to plan them in the hearts of all Colombian citizens.
The “Grand Medal of Merit Luis Carlos Galan Sarmiento” highlights those whose efforts and contributions add to the strengthening of public policy as it pertains to human rights, democracy, and citizen participation, among others.
